Hardingsmolt secures two new GreenBags

Hardingsmolt expands its capacity for closed post-smolt production at sea with an additional two GreenBag -cages from Merdslippen Delivery is planned for the fall.

Hardingsmolt has produced post smolt in GreenBag™ since 2019 from Merdslippen at the Koløy site on Fitjar. The first two bags came into operation in 2019, followed by two more in 2021. Over these seven years, over 11 million post smolt have been produced at the facility – with very solid, documented biological performance. Since 2019, only one salmon lice case has been registered.

– The collaboration with Hardingsmolt over the past seven years has been based on mutual trust and a desire for continuous improvement. When they now choose to supplement with two more GreenBag , this shows that Hardingsmolt wants to invest even harder in the market's most gentle solution for closed production. And not least, it shows that the technology is mature enough. We have taken the time necessary to develop a closed bag solution that has been proven to work over time, says Vidar Vangen, general manager at Merdslippen , in a press release.

The new order brings Hardingsmolt's total GreenBag capacity on Koløy up to six units, emphasizing the confidence in the technology after years of documented operation and very low mortality.
