Merdslippen offers services and products to the aquaculture industry.

The Merdslippen yard is located at Skaganeset Industrial Area in Sund municipality, Norway. The location is about 30 minutes drive from Bergen city center. The company has a unique location with good harbor conditions.

We have been responsible for the development, production and delivery of products to the aquaculture industry that have achieved significant success, and have the capacity to carry out the design and development of new products and complete product compositions.

Merdslippen has a long tradition as an innovative partner, where users actively participate in the development and planning of the individual product. Active customers give us useful knowledge in relation to being a prominent player in the market for aquaculture products. In collaboration with our supplier network, we carry out large and small assignments at competitive prices.

New construction

Merdslippen has the capacity to build new operating platforms and larger floating production facilities. Both steel floating collars for traditional cage-based fish farming and floating closed facilities - GreenBag . We carry out fabrication, assembly, installation and completion. All work in accordance with NS 9415.

Upgrade

Merdslippen helps our customers achieve extended life of their existing installations and facilities. We collaborate with customers and suppliers to increase production and extend the life of existing aquaculture facilities. Upgrading creates added value.

Typical projects are modification of operating platforms and barges, installation of central feeding systems, biological treatment systems for toilets/washing, increasing buoyancy/loading capacity/silo capacity, tank and pipe solutions for handling silage, preparation of anchoring plans and site assessment according to NS 9415. Upsizing/reinforcing of main structure/cross-section/connections. Product certification according to NS 9415.

Maintenance

Merdslippen offers maintenance within the technological upgrading of aquaculture facilities and associated installations. The services include repair and replacement of wear parts and damaged/corroded parts of steel structures and paint systems. Through good maintenance of existing facilities, Merdslippen contributes to minimize downtime, maximize production and ensure that the company complies with HSE standards, laws and regulations.

Fabrication, sheet metal, assembly and welding work

Merdslippen has developed extensive expertise in the fabrication, restoration and conversion of aquaculture installations made of steel. The combination of our multi-purpose fabrication and surface treatment facilities and outdoor assembly area provides the necessary flexibility and unique advantages for our projects. All employees have current trade certificates and welding certificates according to NS-EN 287. We perform all types of sheet metal and welding work in the material qualities carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Cutting and machining is performed in collaboration with Smith Stål Vest in Straume and Jondal Stål in Jondal. Merdslippen is certified and approved by Aquastructures AS, in accordance with NS 9415.

Surface treatment

We offer complete and durable paint system

Sandblasting and painting are carried out according to our customers' requirements and specifications. NORSOK standard M-501, usually provides guidelines for the selection of paints and metallic coatings for surface treatment, surface preparation, application procedures and inspection of the final result of surface treatment used during the construction, restoration and installation of aquaculture installations and associated facilities. The goal is to achieve a surface treatment that ensures optimal protection of the installation with minimal need for maintenance. And further that the paint system is maintenance-friendly and application-friendly and that the HSE consequences are assessed and documented.

Together with Sematek, Merdslippen offers coating inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) of aquaculture installations made from steel, aluminium, GRP, and plastic, both onshore and offshore.
