The objective of the project is to develop a profitable and competitive production line for salmon farming in floating, closed cages with in-cage RAS technology. Essential elements of the production line are a RAS version of the cage concept GreenBag , and newly developed patented floating bio-reactor that is integrated into the cages, a patented insulation fabric that is placed on the outside of the cage bag and reduces heat loss to the surroundings, a patented inner fabric that is used to penetrate the fish when they are to be moved, a patent-pending filter for filtering the intake water and a design-protected six-arm covered operating platform. The operating platform is designed to provide separate and wave-isolated production zones with an advantageous cage configuration as well as ample space centrally for, among other things, feed silos, water intake, water treatment systems and a system for separating sludge.

With protection from sea lice and other unwanted pathogens, effective recycling of the water in the cages and continuous collection of all waste created in the cages, the production meets both environmental requirements, fish health and fish welfare requirements. At the same time, the production will, by means of heat treatment of the dilution water and thermal insulation measures, provide opportunities for more efficient and stable production. Furthermore, it will be possible to realize co-location gains and it will be possible to operate in locations that would otherwise be unsuitable for farming. In addition, there are opportunities for efficiency gains in other parts of the value chain related to the farming business, for example on the hatchery, slaughterhouse and distribution side.
