If sorting is done better at the hatchery, it is possible to produce slaughter fish in closed cages with around one percent waste, says Vidar Vangen in Merdslippen .

Closed facilities were one of the focus areas during this week's Nofima seminar on "Future smolt production". However, experience from closed facilities so far indicates that the facilities can not only be used to produce smolt, but also finished fish for slaughter.

The equipment supplier, Merdslippen has worked for a long time with closed systems in bags. The company aims to be the market leader in floating and closed systems, with associated products and services.
